Bratz Head on Barbies Body

Using a fashionista body as per the trend, she was originally going to be but on a cheap talking Singapore airline hostess 11 1/2 inch doll, but you know how cheap dolls have that ugly bubble when you take the heads off (see pik below). I tried to file down the bubble to maybe make it so the Bratz head could slip on and off, but because of the doll it was a fail, she looked stumpy necked no matter what I tried.

'Welcome to Singapore airlines'

It did get me thinking though of making a vintage Barbie with a Bratz head, as I have read in forums that it doesnt look that great, which is weird as i couldnt find a picture anywhere on google to back this up.

second hand shop finds 1

The second hand shops are the best for snatching all those random Barbie clothes, and today I scored a few nice peices, the green dress with the gold cinch and white bust was a must have for 3 reasons,

*It's green and Barbie rarely does green dresses
*It resembles the blue strapless dress (also from a 2nd hand shop) &
* Its mattel :)

Im unsure as to what line of Barbie these dresses came from, but i hope to find out someday, I have done very little research on them. The tag is your typical pink B tag ( http://dolllinks.blogspot.com.au/2011/07/barbie-clothing-tags-or-labels.html &

The pink dress was a must have for 2 reasons
* Im a stripper and these are like the club dresses
(the cleavage hem has a cute split, but vanessa's boobs are too small )
*Its mega vibrant like an electric petunia

again i have no idea what line this dress is from or if it was just a seperate fashion peice, it has the same tag as the above dresses.

My LOST cat - a non-barbie related post

My baby went missing yesterday :(
I've had Puddins since i got him from the RSPCA
as a kitten, he was one of those cardboard box
dumping cases, we've been together 4yrs & he has
never left my side for anything and I know where-ever
he is, he is scared and waiting for me and as i don't
know where he is, I can't go get him and bring him home :(

5 fashions @ $1.48 each

more on 'Discover the world with barbie' I snagged this bargain on www.ebay.com. The total including postage was $13.99, and considering this is around how much they retailed for each in Australian shops, I almost died when i got 5 for that price :) one happy muffin

Barbie loves rock

PINK PUNK
barbie style

Another fashion pack set, This one is the Rock pack, I got it from K-mart for $14.95au. I never really liked anything in the pack apart from the bodsuit and the boots, and I am still repulsed by the top, as i dont think it was appropriate to the theme or the skirt that it's meant to be worn with.

Short steps in Holland

Discover the world with Barbie

Another eBay find, Holland is the next set i got from the old magazine 'discover the world with barbie'. To be honest i think it's an unflattering outfit, as I'm not a fan of skinny waist with wide shoulders, its very Mr strong like or upside down triangle like.

If you read inside the magazine there is a brief paragraph faintly describing the fashion "This dress is fitted to the knee then flares out. I have to walk in short steps so that I don't trip over". So you really wouldn't want to be wearing this through Amsterdam after a few cookies ;) cute but not practical, although, this is a fashion from 1917 so we have to take into consideration the stupidity of fashion over the past 300 years to appreciate it.

Simone models this Holland outfit, which was a struggle to get on due to the tight kneeline, the gloves are made of lycra in pale pastel pink and the peach sash feels like satin but its very cheap and stiff, which is a good thing as it can be molded to sit where you want it to. The embroidery on the gloves and head-dress are really well done, the head-dress is held on by an elastic strap , like a party crown or pirate hat.

Why I got this outfit;
It was the pattern on the dress (which you can't see well on camera) that got me on this one as well as the head dress and necklace. Again i HATE the plastic clip clasps and the stitching on this one is quite bad, but all in all I still love this outfit even though i bag it out.

Californication, 1890's style

Discover the world with Barbie

Finally got a few off eBay, these were around in Australia in 2002, and UK in 2000 (I think).
As a kid my family couldn't really afford this sort of stuff, & i really wanted them, so now I have them and they are stunning little peices with amazing detail, mainly on the jewelery, which is suprising as they were mass produced for children origianly. I really would love to get egypt and tunis, as you may or may not know, I'm a whore for all things middle eastern/Arab/Egyptian & African.

So I couldnt help but open it all up and try this outift on vintage and mod babrie muses, since it was too tight for mod barbie's hips, vintage and slim waisted mod barbie dolls work best, one thing I was not a fan of on the outfit was the plasic clip/clasps, I really would of prefered velcro over the plastic, or in an ideal world metal clip clasps. And probably the the stick for the parasol wasn't that great either, I expected more detail over a gold stick, but i blame the Bratz era for over detail-ing those lovely accsesories :) lucky for us now most acc* are up to standard, detail wise.

I felt Elwyn suited the California outfit best as her smooth hard plastic legs were less stressfull on the fabrics and she just has that classic old fashioned look to her face and hair that just die for pre 50's fashions. I love this outfit and it did come with white gloves with a lycra/satin feel to it but her arms are so petite they looked rediculous.

Why i got this outfit;
the Hat is what drew me to this look first as it has my fave fabric underlying the top layer, PLEATED stiffened chiffon (see image below).  overall i was looking for a more traditional 19th century fashion due to the influx of barbie movies they tend to be very modernized.

Sunshine with a side of green

FRUIT
to be continued...

PRT 1. Grapefruit
One of my fave fashion sets by Mattel in 2008-9 was the three piece fashion set (example above) with the 'fruit' inspired fashions, at first the grape set caught my eye, but when I played around with the outfits I found I really liked the grapefruit dress best :)

PRT2. WaterMelon
Is definatley my fave, I'm obsessed with flouro pink and green especially on dark african skin tones :P makes my fashion lobe crazy. I love the PVC with the soft glittery trimming, as shiny things seem to be very attractive.

PRT 3. Grape

The whole reason why i got this fashion pack was for this purple number that was my fave when I first saw it. It's still a wicked dress and i love the way it hangs and of course the little fruit decal which was to hard to turn away from.

PRT 4. BlueBerry
The least liked of the fashion pack by my standards, although the pants are shiny and cute, one on they are baggy and loose and look like recycled trash bags, so i was disappointed when putting these on. The top is not much better despite the photo, its hard to get on as it shrinks to a really small size so doing it up is not much fun, but it looks great in photo's so I guess it's not that much of a downer.

Simone

Simone

Simone is a serious model. Born and bred on the Gold Coast, Australia, your not so typical
'beach babe'. Mastered the catwalk at age 9, she was destined for fashions and the runway. Some may say she's a bit hard at times, but only in an attempt to make
things 'perfect'. Simone is extremely punctual, which gives her the advantage of snatching
all those fresh new looks to strut first on the catwalk. Simone hopes to expand
into her own enterprise and take over the fashion world.

Skittles

Feeling Fruity

I feel the need to play with barbie, I grab my crate of muses and draws of clothes and acc*.  Then I was suprised and touched, by a cute yet icky deadly black spider living in MyScene's Chelsea's hair, after screaming around the room for ten minutes, I smoke a cone and continue to play.

Samara

Samara comes from the Kimberley desert, Western Australia, Kununurra to be exact. At home with minimal surroundings, rustic settings and a love for all things scaled, feathered and furry, Samara enjoys nothing more than a quiet picnic & book after an extensive horse trail ride. Due to her isolated upbringing, she lacks alots of people skills, and can say alot of things that are just plain out of place, but you wouldn't guess that from her photos.

Leela

Leela is an Austrlian born Arab, her family moved to Melbourne after the Gulf war. After completing her Bachelor of science, she was thrown into the spotlight as the hottest Tropical Biologist the southern hemisphere has ever seen. She's a real mash up of a 'girl's girl', she loves to get her nails done while listening to Jocelyn Bell Burnell podcasts. Polite yet not afraid to speak up or stand up for a good cause.  Scouted at a local boutique by Barbie in 2011, through modeling, Leela hopes to achieve awareness for Earths most precious gifts.
